8TH ASIA LAWN BOWLS CHAMPIONSHIP 2009 |
Bowls Singapore participated in the 8th Asia Lawn Bowls Championship 2009 held in Shenzhen, China from the 1 to 10 Dec 09.A 5 men team and a 5 ladies team together with two U25 men and two U25 ladies participated in the tournament. A total of 10 events were competed (8 for the open and 2 for the U25). There were a total of 10 countries from Asia took part in the championships. They are Brunei, China , Hong Kong, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand.

After 10 days of competition , Team Singapore managed to win 3 bronze medals from 3 events, Men’s Triples, Ladies’ Fours and U25 Ladies’ Singles. The Men’s Triples were represented by Christian Huang, Bernard Foo and Chia Tee Chiak and our Ladies’ Fours were represented by Jane Low, Lim Kwee Choon, Margaret Lim and May Lee. Our new comer, Shermeen Lim won herself a Bronze medal in the Singles U25 Championship 2009 jointly with India . Malaysia took the gold and Philippines, the Silver. Shermeen is still young and has the potential. Keep it up and looking forward for your near future achievement.Congratulations to all the winners and keep the flag flying up.
